90 Day Fiance cast member Daniele Gates is all about life in the Dominican Republic in current The Other Way scenes – so much so that she doesn’t ever want to come back to America. And recently, she dished on her reasoning. So what did she have to say?

90 Day Fiance: The Other Way Season 4 is in full swing. And, along with all the new couples on this currently-airing season, Daniele Gates and Yohan Geronimo are the only familiar faces from a previous spinoff – as they made the jump from Love in Paradise.
But, as 90 Day Fiance fans have seen in new episodes, it hasn’t been all rose-colored glasses and honeymoon phase for this TLC pair since Danielle landed back in the Dominican Republic.
Even though Daniele told Yohan that the plan was to eventually get him to America, Daniele has no intention of going back to the states. And recently, she dished on her logic, revealing her reasoning behind wanting to ditch America for good.
TLC Celeb Dishes on Why She Wants to Ditch America
In Yohan’s mind, Daniele coming to the Dominican Republic was only supposed to be temporary – with the larger plan being for him to eventually come to America. But, the way Daniele sees it, she is playing a much different long game, one that includes ditching America for good.
According to Daniele, she recently told her 90 Day Fiance fans the real reason she never wants to come back to the US. Daniele said that the only way she could keep her pension is if she stayed in New York – a place she was adamant about leaving.
In addition, she went on to say that if she went to somewhere like Florida, she would be starting at “minimum salary” even with all of the teaching experience she has. So, it’s clear that is off the table.
Is the Dominican Republic Better Than America?
When viewers think of the premise of 90 Day Fiance, the emphasis is usually all on getting a green card and coming to America. But, in Daniele Gates’ case, she is the exact opposite. To her, even if Yohan wants to leave his home country and come to America, Daniele is all about staying put in the foreign country.
According to Daniele, she wants to be able to “walk to the ocean” and “meditate”. So, she essentially wants the beach life snacking on mangos as opposed to the hustle and bustle of a big American city.
And even the idea of living in places like Florida, with a similar vibe and climate to the DR, is off limits, according to her, as a “radical liberal”. Even so, many people think that her reason for leaving America behind has nothing to do with island life or her political leanings.
Does Daniele Have an Ulterior Motive for Ditching America?
It turns out, Daniele Gates filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2022. And based on the numbers, she is in the hole for nearly $225k. So, the Dominican Republic could be her way of trying to escape that debt – all under the guise of beautiful sunsets and beach vibes.
On top of that, even if Daniele wanted to move abroad to escape her debt, broadcasting it on national television isn’t exactly the smartest way to go about it, either. Because, even though it can be difficult for debt collectors to track you down if you move abroad, by being on TLC, she essentially gave up that anonymity if that’s what she was hoping to have by leaving America.
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what happens and where they eventually end up – as many 90 Day Fiance fans have been calling for Yohan to ditch Daniele from the very beginning.
