TLC offers viewers a unique twist on things with The Other Way. Instead of foreigners coming to America on the K1 visa process, Americans travel to the foreign countries of their partners to live together and build a life there.
And as 90 Day Fiance fans have seen in the past, culture clash is the name of the game as Americans often struggle to adapt to the customs and mores of the foreign countries that their partners are from. And recently, TLC just dropped a fresh teaser for Season 4.
Yohan Geronimo & Daniele Gates Met in the Dominican Republic
TLC first introduced 90 Day Fiance fans to Daniele Gates and Yohan Geronimo on Love in Paradise. And like many American cast members that find love abroad while on vacation, Daniele fell for Yohan while on a trip to the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, despite things like language barriers and where they would live hanging over their future together, the duo walked down the aisle in November 2021 – recently celebrating their first year of marriage.
And based on teasers for The Other Way Season 4, it’s clear the couple settled on the Dominican Republic as the place to build their lives together. But as spoilers reveal, it’s not all marital bliss for these two.
TLC Pair Daniele Gates & Yohan Geronimo Make the Jump
With the teaser out for The Other Way Season 4, Daniele Gates and Yohan Geronimo officially make the jump from Love in Paradise. So, they are the one familiar pair that viewers have seen before.
And based on teasers, even though Daniele and Yohan are glad to be in the same country without Daniele having to leave to go back to America, it doesn’t mean everything is sunshine and roses for these two.
90 Day Fiance Pair Fight Over Finances, Gender Roles & More
In fact, there’s a lot of tension in upcoming scenes when it comes to things like finances and gender roles. Because Daniele Gates pays for everything, she wants Yohan Geronimo to do more.
But, this goes against social norms and expectations in the Dominican Republic, where the man is expected to be the breadwinner of the family. And by those standards, Daniele says Yohan is the “esposa” or “wife” in this scenario.
The way Daniele Gates sees it, she has made Yohan Geronimo’s life “better”. So, despite the machismo culture in the DR, Johan needs to do more to pull his weight if he wants to continue to make things work with his wife.
