90 Day Fiance: Kimberly Menzies Has a Bad Picker
As Kimberly Menzies mentioned previously, she was married to Jamal’s father for 20 years. But as 90 Day Fiance watchers know, that relationship ultimately didn’t pan out for the long haul. Meanwhile, there’s another interesting tidbit from Kimberly’s dating history that recently came to light.
Judging by one of Kimberly Menzies’ previous relationships, it sounds like something you’d expect out of Love After Lockup rather than 90 Day Fiance. It turns out, according to InTouch, Kim was previously married to a man named Kevin Golphin – who is currently in prison for murder.
Kimberly’s Ex-Husband in Prison for Murder?
For some time now, 90 Day Fiance fans have called out Kimberly Menzies for being desperate when it comes to her behavior with Usman Umar. And judging by her history, she hasn’t had the best taste in men.
It turns out, her ex-husband (Kevin Golphin) and his brother Tilmon were arrested in 1997 as teenagers. They were both charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of discharging a firearm into occupied property, and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, according to InTouch.
The brothers were accused of killing two white police officers in Fayetteville, North Carolina, during a traffic stop. And despite being just 19 and 17 at the time of the crime, the brothers initially faced the death penalty.
The brothers were later found guilty and sentenced to death for the murders. Interestingly, Kimberly Menzies saw the story on television and eventually went to visit Kevin in prison – very Love After Lockup-esque.

Apparently, Kevin Golphin needed someone to be his power of attorney. And even though Kim wasn’t in love with him, it seems she loved him as a person, and agreed to tie the knot in January 1999.
The marriage lasted roughly two years before being annulled – and it was never consummated. So if nothing else, this is further proof that this inmate is not Jamal’s father. Eventually, Kevin’s death penalty was downgraded to life without parole. And similarly, his brother’s sentence was changed to life in prison as well.
Indeed, Kevin is aware of Kimberly Menzies being on 90 Day Fiance. However, at the rate things are going with Usman and all the drama surrounding a second wife, Kim may not find her happily ever after in her current situation either.
