David Nelson, a cast member of My 600-lb Life, had trouble at the start of his TLC segment. David had a multitude of reasons for being in the condition he was in when the cameras arrived, just like everyone else TLC films for the show. To put it frankly, he had a challenging beginning in life.
David Nelson admitted to being born to his mother when she was just 13 years old. He was also placed in foster care as a result of his father’s absence. In fact, at the age of 30, he was still residing with his foster mother, who appeared to be the sole source of consistency in his life.

Since the My 600-lb Life episode featuring David Nelson aired, viewers have been interested to know how he is faring. He surely has an intriguing life these days, based on his most recent updates. David seems to have switched to van life. And he seems content with his unconventional living situation, where the beach is essentially his living room.

My 600-lb Life Star Asks Fans for Help
Even though My 600-lb Life celeb David Nelson has been doing well and enjoying life, he hit a snag recently – and asked his followers for help. It turns out, he was on his way to California when his van started “leaking coolant”.
The TLC celeb set up a GoFundMe to help with the repairs, and as of this writing, the campaign has raised $2,420 of its $2,500 goal from 79 donors. And luckily, he isn’t too far from reaching that campaign goal.
Meanwhile, another interesting piece of information to glean from this update from David Nelson is that it hints at his future My 600-lb Life plans. According to the TLC celeb, he is traveling back to Houston after California to continue his weight loss journey.
And if nothing else, even though David Nelson didn’t reveal his weight on the scale, it’s clear he is keeping up with his weight loss progress – and with him heading back to Houston, the pounds should melt even more.
