Married at First Sight Season 13 pair Rachel Gordillo and Jose San Miguel Jr are calling it quits again – and this time, the Lifetime pair filed for divorce.
Married at First Sight: Season 13 Success Rate Plummets
As Married at First Sight watchers know, the experts have an abysmal success rate overall – and, Season 13 in Houston certainly takes the cake. Certainly, it seems upping the couples to five instead of three over the last several seasons hasn’t helped bolster that winning percentage, either.
And, from the looks of it, the Married at First Sight experts are zero for five – with all the matched pairs from Houston deciding to go their separate ways. Unofficially, you could even say the MAFS experts are zero for six – as Zack and Bao dated briefly but broke up due to Zack allegedly straying with multiple women.
Jose San Miguel Jr & Rachel Gordillo Had Their Ups & Downs
Like all Married at First Sight pairs, Jose San Miguel Jr and Rachel Gordillo had their ups and downs throughout the season. Viewers will remember when Jose told Rachel to “get the f*** out” after she called him by another man’s name. And, things went from bad to worse when Jose locked Rachel out of their apartment.
The Married at First Sight pair had some other things working against them as well. Rachel Gordillo revealed that she cheated in the past – and that was a concern for Jose. In his mind, it’s “once a cheater, always a cheater”. So, whether they’d be able to overcome that was a big question for these two.
Meanwhile, one of the things that rubbed Rachel the wrong way about Jose San Miguel Jr is how rigid he is. He is tight when it comes to managing his finances. And, he has a very clear idea about things happening on his schedule. So, whether or not he’d be able to accommodate someone else was a big concern.
Lifetime Pair File for Divorce – Over for Good This Time?
As Married at First Sight watchers know, Jose and Rachel decided to stay together on Decision Day. But they broke up a few weeks after that. Following their initial breakup, they eventually got back together and tried to give things another go. And they even had plans to move in together once again. In addition, as that was happening, there was hope that Season 13 in Houston wouldn’t turn out to be a complete bust.
From the looks of it, though, there’s no happy ending for Married at First Sight pair Jose San Miguel Jr and Rachel Gordillo – at least not with each other. Following their reconciliation attempt, the pair seem to have decided to part ways for good this time. And, if there’s one silver lining to come out of the dissolution of this union, it looks like the former couple mutually agreed that this is the best route for them moving forward. So, if nothing else, this appears to be an amicable split.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, the Married at First Sight couple said in a joint statement that this is a decision neither of them made lightly. And that ultimately, this decision “best serves” their future. Certainly, it’ll be interesting to see what the MAFS experiment taught them – and what lessons they’ll be able to use in future relationships.
So, with all the Married at First Sight Season 13 cast members looking for love elsewhere, perhaps the experts will have better luck in the matchmaking department next season.
